    Comments:

I purchased the 2014 FX 7.3 WSD last summer, and have no regrets! It handles beautifully, and has been great for commuting to the store/park/library, riding short distances with my children (4-6mi) and doing longer fitness rides with my local bicycle club (15-30+mi). I have done some hilly routes, and this bike handles serious climbs very well. I have had no trouble maneuvering through gravel patches on roads. It feels very light weight, and I have no trouble lifting it to my vehicle. I have added a rack to use with a trunk/panniers for commuting, and Shimano 2-way (SPD+FLAT) pedals for going clipless on long rides but keeping the flat pedals for everything else.

      Comments:

I am 58. I wouldn't describe myself as a serious cyclist but I like to use a bike instead of a car or bus whenever possible, to save money and to keep fit. I previously had a Trek with a low stepover, which was great (am keeping it) but I realized it was quite heavy and decided a lighter bike might make riding easier for me. It has!!! I rode it home (5 miles) from the shop with the wind against me and got home quicker than I had ever done before. I have since had some of my longest rides ever on a bike (37 miles, 26 miles)and though a bit saddle sore at the end I thoroughly enjoyed them and got up hills that previously were difficult or impossible. I think that was due to the lightness of the bike and extra gears (previously only had 21). I chose this model over the 7.2 because I liked the easier to read gear display, and thought the higher spec components were worth the extra money. One thing I changed was the saddle, which I didn't think was quite my size. I swapped it for the one I'd bought previously for my old bike, and which I had been measured up for. I would recommend getting measured up to make sure that you've got the right size saddle. Having this new bike has made me want to get out and ride more often. I do find the going rough on bad roads (visit the UK for these....). I would not want to ride it on anything other than tarmac really. I definitely think it's a road bike and not suitable for off road, but I don't really want to go off road much so that suits me.

        Comments:

This bike is used for riding distances of 10 - 40 miles in hilly Colorado. We ride several times a week and it is consistently a dependable, smooth shifting, well balanced bike. I replaced the seat before the first ride based on the reviews I read before I bought it. I am unable to ride a drop bar so the fitness bike design is perfect, comfortable and responsive.

        Comments:

I don't buy things quickly....research...research. I searched and test rode bikes for months before splurging on the 2010 7.3 Trek. Though love road riding (98%) wanted something that I could ride on trails with kids as well ...the 7.3 fits the bill. Just rolled over total 660 miles...MAX distance so far 52 miles...average approx 10-15 miles with ease. I have fitted front aero bars...with much chastising from my fellow riders, but they are the bomb...elbow rests give you a 2nd place to rest hands on ride. Only issue I have is the rear rim. 3 separate broken spokes...each time take to shop and get repaired. I am now currently looking for a better quality rim to support my +250lb frame.

        Comments:

I got this bike to take advantage of the beautiful bike trails we have in our area. I was taking my 'town' type bike with the basket, bell, flower and streamers. I felt it was too difficult to maneuver and keep up with my husband on his Trek hybrid. I found this bike and had to have it. On my maiden ride I took it through a local park with hills, turns, bumpy patched blacktop, and speed bumps. I found it very responsive, and maneuverable. The brakes are quick without being grabby. The gears are a quick study and shifting becomes easy after a few hills and terrain changes. The handlebars are comfortable with a good span for my body (5'-3" and 130# with the 17.5 size). The style is sleek with a soft metallic black paint, accented with tan on the inner areas of the bike frame-very different. The bike is light and I look forward to transporting it. I did have to purchase a carbon fiber side-load water bottle cage as the placement of the attachment doesn't allow enough clearance for the bottle on the step through (women's) model.

It is a great bicycle if you want a fast, responsive one. For the city is simple perfect. It has some minor issues such as the chain that might get derailed when in bumpy roads. I use it in Rotterdam, so it is quite annoying. Nonetheless I would 100% recommend it. If you want lights for city use, it is easy to find accessories for it.

        Comments:

I recently purchased this bike with all the usual noble intentions of losing weight, getting fitter and reducing my carbon foot print. I am 35, about 42lbs overweight and in dire need of a change of life. This bike has started contributing to all of the above. As such, I have started using the bike for more than just getting to and from work, increasing going for long rides at the weekend and finding alternative routes to increase the journey home. There are a few issues with breaks (need tightening) and gears (can result in a jump causing feet to jump off pedals / chain to slip off ring), but nothing a quick service can't resolve.

          Comments:

I bought this bike 5 days ago and on day 1, I knew I bought the correct bike for me. I have so far, just cycled around for the sheer joy of it and gone shopping. This bike is very responsive and light. I easily avoided a broken bottle in the road by just maneuvering around it and then back to my original place in the lane. I have also been to the grocery store (bought a watermelon and some other heavy items). I could not tell I was hauling the extra weight while riding until I had to stop for the first time and felt the weight in the back. Note: I added a rear rack and panniers. I may also commute. Have not decided though. I must say, the shifting is superb; smooth as silk and it fits like a glove. I didn't want a road bike because I like to keep my head up but this bike makes you feel as if you're riding a road bike with a view and more comfort. The only thing thing I didn't like was the saddle but then I prefer my Brooks saddle. Others may prefer the one that comes with it. As a bonus, the bike is beautiful! Thanks Trek!

            Comments:

I'm a beginner in biking but am physically fit and active. I bike about 2-3 x/week for fitness on mainly road and occasional light trails (gravel and small rocks). I probably cycle approximately 15 miles at a time and have put almost 40 miles on my new Trek 7.3 Fx WSD. I was looking for a bike that was light for climbing hills and to easily place on my bike rack so I can actually take my bike to fun places to ride. I wasn't really looking for a true road bike because I prefer an up right position and the ability to ride on some light trails. I also wanted solid components, smooth shifting, and good brakes. This bike met all of my requirements. It is EXTREMELY light to pick up...I think I read somewhere that it is 22-24 lbs but not certain on that. It feels GREAT for climbing hills. I used to have a cheap department store hybrid and it was about 40lbs and my knees used to kill after biking uphill. It has solid mid to upper range mountain bike components, feels super sturdy, and is very responsive with turns and braking. As a beginner, I really feel confident on this bike due to its maneuverability and strong handling. It is very comfortable as the shop did a great job fitting me for the bike. Shifting is incredibly fast and smooth except for shifting up to the third level as it comes with some noise and takes a split second longer but truthfully, it isn't anything that would bug me enough to not get the bike especially since bikes in this price range and model type tend to have the same situation due to having a triple cassette. I have to say that I was surprised by how quick this bike is. It is actually really fast and glides effortlessly on the road but I will say that it isn't "road bike fast." The road bikers definitely pass me however, I tend to go at a quick fitness pace yet take in the scenery and am not in it to race if you know what I mean. Also, it is really only meant for light trails such as gravel or soft dirt. I went on a road with a lot of small rocks and it just sounded like the tires were taking a beating and the bike didn't handle as well however, it still got me through at a good pace. What else can I say... the bike looks beautiful and is truly fun to ride. I am always looking forward to my next opportunity to take it out. I love it and have no regrets with my choice of bike. I anticipate being happy with it for a long time. I hope this review was helpful!
